The Gallery at Green & Stone is excited to be joined by Katy Papineau from the Royal Drawing School conducting this unique drawing class.

Green & Stone

Tutor: Katy Papineau Summary: Through drawing, the ordinary can become extraordinary. The more we look, the more everything reveals itself to us as unexpected; even the laces on a pair of boots, in the madness of their loops. This course will present playful and surprising encounters to enliven the way we draw. Mythical paintings have often been put together in the prosaic surroundings of artists’ workshops. This course encourages a playful approach to working in the life room and will offer strategies for developing meaningful images from subjects in our everyday lives.Drawing materials to be included and a 10% discount in our renowned art materials shop at the end of the class!This is a fantastic opportunity to be trained by a tutor from the Royal Drawing School. The class will take place in our gallery, showing the work of Royal Drawing School alumni, for maximum inspiration.

Katy Papineau graduated with first class Honours in Philosophy from the University of Bristol in 2013. She paints using the colours, imagery and symbols of fairy stories. In the imagined worlds her paintings depict, she explores the fairy-tale tropes of good and bad women. She is interested in fictional characters that either fully embrace or strongly defy the roles they are cast in.
