This February BPS celebrates LGBTQIA+ History month with a series of performances, talks and live art events.

Bermondsey Project Space is a not-for-profit creative platform that runs a vibrant programme of performance events including, music, spoken word, performance art, screenings and theatre.

PERFORMANCE WEEK

From the 6th - 11th of February Bermondsey Project Space celebrates performance, with a packed programme of live art, theatre, music and spoken word in aid of the BPS outreach fund - supporting creative projects with local young people.

This LGBTQIA+ History Month, Rich Mans Slug are back at Bermondsey Project Space . Rich Man's Slug is a a collective of innovative movement and dance artists who comically and courageously explore queerness in all its forms. After six months of sold-out events, Rich Man's Slug are excited to not only be bringing you another night of fantastic performances but also two interactive daytime events. Get your tickets now before they are gone! Feel free to join us for the just daytime interactive workshops, just the evening performance event, or both! Daytime Workshops from 12.30 - 3.30pm. BUILDING IMAGINED SOCIETIES 12.30 am - 1.30 pm ( Stay for the whole time or drop in any time between 12.30 and 1.30pm ) We invite you to join us in building a collectivly imagined society. Using the idea of pillow forts and gibberish we attempt to re-connect with childish play. You’re welcome to watch, come and visit, stay for a while or build it with us. Come along and have some silly fun.The workshop will be run from 12.30-13.30. We will be building our pillow forts in 20 minute intervals followed up by a 10 minute chat between the performers and the audience. You’re welcome to stay for as long as you’d like.

INVISIBLE INK2 - 3.30pm (stay for the whole time or drop in anytime between 2 - 3.30pm) INVISIBLE INK is a movement installation exploring the search for a queer history that you can relate to.It remembers traces and sideways glances - stolen minutes in otherwise heteronormative worlds.Borrowing some stories from strangers and friends, or making them up entirely, INVISIBLE INK aims to question how queer histories are told. Objects, sound, movement, and text combine to create a space for reflection and expansive imagination.Stay for five minutes or for 50 and experience the different narratives that we can create together.Read between the lines, you’re invited in

RICH MAN’S SLUG Evening of Performance 7 - 9 pm ( doors at 7 please come in time for a 7.30 start and we encourage you to stay for the whole event) We end a day full of events with a classic Rich Man’s Slug evening, filled with a gorgeous lineup of beautiful creators and performers. 7pm: Doors open7.30-7.45 pm : Bel Eade 7.45-8 pm: Tough Boys Dance Collective8 - 8.20 pm: BREAK 8.20-8.35 pm : Miriam Levy8.35-8.50 pm : FIMBO BUTURES

Bel Eade: SwarmIt looks like liquid, but it feels like bugs. Special and rare, hard to catch. Cricket feet, cracking bones and loud hands release tiny maggots when I’m really full of flies. Let the flies out.

Tough Boys Dance Collective This evening we will present a short excerpt from our work, DJ as Witness. Exploring a simmering collection of club snapshots, from the seething intensity of the dancefloor to the all consuming intimacy of the smoking area. Tough Boys Dance Collective is a queer led dance theatre collective working to create multidisciplinary works that centre around celebrating authentic queer experiences through bold and unique aesthetics.

FIMBO BUTURESFIMBO BUTURES (Maya Williams &amp; Lizzy Tan) presents an excerpt of 'For you: wicked,' which reflects on the shared dynamics between sex work, formal dance training and labour under capitalism. This dance-camming-performance-art piece asks what it means to be‘Not Safe For Work’ - is anyone ‘safe from work’ under capitalism? In a manic game of dress up, FIMBO BUTURES conjures a realm somewhere between online/offline, Girl On Girl, sight and site. 'For you: wicked' will be performed at the 2023 VAULT Festival (Feb. 28-Mar. 2) and has previously been selected for Camden People’s Theatre’s 2022 ‘Calm Down, Dear’ Festival, riposte london queer art rave and Intercultural Roots’ Metamorphosis series.

Accessibility:The venue is on the ground floor with ramp access through the front door. There is an accessible bathroom on the same floor. There will be seats available should you need them.
