Are you having trouble reconciling the idea of a loving God with how you have been treated by others within a faith organisation? You are not alone.Make no mistake – these last few years have been a struggle for many, and ‘trauma’ is a real issue you may be facing. You deserve to move into this new era of your life whole, supported and in the knowledge that you are loved just as you are.The term “religious trauma syndrome” was coined in 2011 by psychologist Marlene Winell and occurs in response to two-fold trauma: the first prolonged abuse of indoctrination from a religious community, and secondly the act of leaving the controlling religious community.Some of the challenges you may be experiencing include:-	Cognitive confusion, difficulty decision-making and critical thinking.-	Feelings of anger and grief, anxiety, and lack of meaning.-	Employment issues if you have left or been forced to leave a Christian employer.-	Loneliness as your church or community are taken away.Join us on February 28th for an evening of support and discussion around the challenging issues many people face when deeply hurt, maligned, or abused by a church or religious organisation. Wherever you find yourself on your faith journey, all are welcome as we take time to explore inner healing and our response to the failings of those charged with our spiritual care.Shaneen Clarke is an author, motivational speaker and certified coach who will be sharing some of her story in ministry as well as insights into forgiveness, revenge, getting ‘unstuck’ and moving forwards.
