How To Grow A Flower Garden

W﻿e have teamed up with Sheffield Botanical Gardens to deliver a schedule of seasonal horticulture and floristry workshops to help you get the most from your flower garden. You can book onto the whole 6 weeks, or book the workshops individually.

Our autumn workshop will be about the backbone of the cutting garden - bulbs and tubers. You will learn how to plant bulbs for a maximum yield and which varieties are best for cutting. This will be a very practical workshop where you will learn how to lift, divide and store dahlias over the winter. Our workshops are for all abilities and are about having fun, being creative and giving it a go! All equipment is provided along with light refreshments. This session will be d﻿elivered by the team from <a href="https://www.bloomsheffield.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Bloom Sheffield</a>, a community garden for women, promoting positive mental health through therapeutic horticulture. We run weekly flower growing groups for women to improve their health and wellbeing, reduce social isolation and teach and share skills. We manage three gardens across Sheffield and grow all of the flowers we use in our bouquets and arrangements. As a not-for-profit organisation, all the money we raise from the sales of our flowers go back into the garden and supporting women’s mental health in the community.P﻿lease note this event is for the October session ONLY.
