Research4Gloucestershire is hosting a research workshop focused on Social Work and Care

In March 2023 Research4Gloucestershire will be hosting the first Gloucestershire Festival of Health and Social Care Research. This month long event will see a range of digital and in person research workshops, seminars, and panel discussions; focusing on the themes of Digital Transformation, Research for Public and Patient Benefit, Mental Health, and Workforce.T﻿his session will include a research presentations by:Melissa Reed, Consultant Occupational Therapist for Recovery &amp; Inclusion at Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust - “It is what it is”: A narrative study exploring caregivers’ everyday experiences of supporting a family member with a serious mental illness
Thispresentation will provide a whistle-stop tour of Melissa&#x27;s MSc Occupational Therapy thesis submitted to Cardiff University in 2022. Research was undertaken in Gloucestershire using exploratory, narrative inquiry and was underpinned by the principles of narrative methodology. The presentation will outline the research process, the overall findings and prominent themes identified and will also reflect on Melissa&#x27;s personal journey as a researcher.
David Hambling, Senior Lecturer in Social Work at the University of Gloucestershire - Young CarersT﻿his will be followed by a workshop for attendees focusing on how we can collaborate across Gloucestershire to develop a community of research in Social Work that will support the health and wellbeing for people in Gloucestershire.T﻿his event is targeted towards Health, Social Work and Social Care Professionals from all disciplines, and students in a Health and Social Care subject at the University of Gloucestershire
