‘Oh, That’s So Holocene’: Rethinking the Playwright in the Climate Crisis

We’ll take a tour of global eco-arts engaged in cross-species collaboration to rethink the culture of playwriting in the Anthropocene*.

<h2>&quot;The concept of the Anthropocene* emphasizes the danger of thinking of humans as being superior to the rest of the natural world.&quot;</h2><h2>During this workshop, we’ll discuss strategies to resist this in the arts and explore breaking the Holocene habits of regular playwriting through practical exercises.</h2><h2>T﻿his workshop forms part of <a href="https://www.mrscscollective.co.uk/the-writers-collective" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">The Writers&#x27; Collective</a>, made possible by the support of Arts Council England.</h2><h3>*﻿ meaning this current geologic period. It’s used to describe the most recent period in Earth&#x27;s history when human activity started to have a significant impact on the planet&#x27;s climate and ecosystems</h3><h3></h3><h2>A﻿bout Chris Fittock (He/Him)</h2><h3><em>&quot;﻿Chris is published by Nick Hern and used to write plays for theatres. But the Climate Crisis and cancer realigned his interests towards ecological playwriting.
