Jane Austen Day - Sat 25th Feb 2023

Our Jane Austen Day will appeal to those of you who know and enjoy Jane Austen's books including Sense and Sensibility and Pride and Prejudice.

We will meet at one of our volunteer's home for the morning and learn more about Jane Austen's life and writing before having a soup lunch together. We will then drive to Chawton and visit Jane Austen's House Museum in the afternoon.

We will be meeting at 124 Violet Road, Southampton, in the morning and visiting Jane Austen's House, Winchester Road, Chawton, GU34 1SD in the afternoon. At the end of the day, we will bring you back to the University of Southampton Highfield Campus, near to where we will be meeting in the morning. The programme for the day is below:

10am - Coffee

10.30 to 12 noon - Jane Austen's life and writing

12 noon - Soup Lunch

1pm - drive to Chawton

2pm - visit to Jane Austen's House Museum

approx. 5.30pm arrive back in Southampton

Cost:

There is no charge for the morning, lunch and travel which will be in the cars of Friends International staff and volunteers.

Tickets for Jane Austen's House Museum cost £12.75 for those who are 27 and older and £10 for 17-26 year olds.

Tickets are limited for this event, please book via Eventbrite and please note that if you find that you cannot join us we cannot give refunds for the Museum ticket , but we may be able to find another student to buy your ticket.
