<p>Venta Icenorum (Caistor-by-Norwich) was the civitas capital of the Iceni and has long been known for the clarity with which its streets and buildings appear on aerial photographs. Since 2006 the site and its surroundings have been the subject of investigations by the University of Nottingham and Caistor Roman Project, which have changed our understanding of the development of the town. </p><p>This talk will describe these findings and particularly look the development of the street grid, challenging the idea that the town was laid out in the aftermath of the Boudican revolt, as well as discussing the results of the most recent excavations of the town&#x27;s extra-mural temple complex.

</p><p></p><p><strong>This presentation will take place via Zoom, and will be followed by a Q&amp;A session.  Attendees will receive a link by email after registration, and on the day of the talk. The meeting room will open to the public at 7:15pm with the talk starting at 7:30pm.</strong></p>
