Join us for a journey across 7 different countries to discover the beauty of the natural world. These premiere screenings of select Official Selection films will take place in iconic Bristol venues and are open to the public, with support of the BFI.

Wildscreen are hitting the road! Join Wildscreen, the leading global charity in natural world storytelling in Glasgow for two days of independent environmental film screenings. The films have been specially selected from Wildscreen Festival’s Official Selection 2022, and there will be talks with filmmakers, conservationists, and Q&amp;A sessions too!

A﻿BOUT THE FILMSS﻿ATURDAYP﻿anteras, Living Among Wild Cats (dir. Andoni Canela, Wildscreen Festival Official Selection Programmer Prize Winner 2022)Andoni Canela, a renowned Spanish nature photographer, travels with his son Unai on a fascinating 4 year adventure. They travel in search of the last wild cats on the planet: jaguars, tigers, pumas, cheetahs, leopards, lions ... The journey takes several years and culminates in the high mountains of Tibet and the Himalayas, where father and son try to find the legendary snow leopard. The difficulty of the challenge, the beautiful expression of Nature and the sensitivity of Andoni and Unai turn the film into an exciting conservationist plea and an authentic journey of inner discovery.

M﻿y Garden of a Thousand Bees (dir. David Allen)A story of surprise and revelation. A wildlife cameraman spends his time during the coronavirus pandemic lockdown filming the bees in his urban garden and discovers the many diverse species and personalities that exist in this insect family.W﻿inner of the Wildscreen 2022 Golden Panda Award

SUNDAYA﻿ Series of Ocean Films with Q&amp;AThis screening will include three short films that focus on ocean conservation, including Mother of the Sea (dir. Nicolas Brown and Ulannaq Ingemann), Whales in a Changing Ocean (dir. Richard Sidey, New Zealand) and CAUGHT (dir. Emma Silverstone Segal, Canada). This event will be followed by a special Q&amp;A with Dr Isla Hodgson, Rachel Brooks and Kirsty Crawford.

Y﻿oung Programmers SelectionJ﻿oin us for a carefully selected collection of short films from Wildscreen Festival&#x27;s Official Selection 2022 edition. These films have been selected by our young programmers from Scotland and will include a short introduction from programmer Nancy Holt. F﻿ilms to be screened: Trees for Tamarins (dirs. W﻿ild Romania (dir. Dan Dinu and Cosmin Dumitrache, Wildscreen Festival Official Selection Audience Award Winner 2022)The Carpathian Mountains, the Danube River and the Black Sea, gave birth to the wildest country in Europe. The richness of this place lies in spectacular mountains, in rivers full of life, in healthy forests. Following the four seasons of the year, we will discover the life of the most emblematic animals of Romania and we will unfold the story of the most amazing natural landscapes. The journey begins with the long-awaited arrival of spring, a season of hope when most animals prepare for a new cycle of life. We will continue in summer, the season of plenty, a time when the young animals are starting to enjoy the beauty of life and accept the challenges of nature. The story will come to an end with the arrival of autumn which will turn into winter once more. The season of change will bring new challenges for Romanian wildlife, in a time when the hunters are thriving. From the high peaks of the Fagaras Mountains, to the wetlands of the Danube Delta, we will unveil the best kept secrets of Europe’s wilderness.​​​​​​​

GETTING THERE We encourage our attendees to consider the impact of their travel to the event, walking, cycling or using public transport where possible. The screenings are taking place in the Tower North within Glasgow Science Centre. The Science Centre is well served by public footpaths and only takes about 30 minutes to walk to along the riverside from the heart of the City Centre.For those coming by bike, Glasgow Science Centre is close to National Cycle Route 7. There are cycle stands located close to the entrance of the centre.The venue is easily accessible by bus and subway. The café and coffee shop can top up bottles of water and there is a water cooler on the ground floor near the ticket desk. There is also a Scottish Water Top Up Tap installed outside.
