Listening Ear’s new training arm is Mindset. We deliver high-quality training courses to our staff and volunteers, as well to others working with children and young people in Knowsley and beyond. We pride ourselves on the positive feedback our sessions receive, and have recently launched an accredited 12 month course to train specialist CYP counsellors. Our principal trainer Tracy Allen-Lea has over 10 years’ experience of working within our CYP therapeutic services, having delivered both one-to-one and group therapy, and has extensive knowledge of CYP experiencing bereavement, loss, family breakdown, sudden death, murder, manslaughter, suicide, CLA domestic abuse and pre bereavement.Talk to us if you think we can help you with your training needs.

Please note that spaces are limited to 15 so booking is essential - walk-in&#x27;s will not be accepted. Why Listening Ear?Supporting people after bereavement is also at the heart of our organisation’shistory and purpose. Listening Ear was founded in 1993 by a group of volunteerswho trained in reflective listening so that they could better support bereavedadults within the local community. Ten years later, a local child was first-on-sceneat a family suicide and the group recognised that there was no therapeuticsupport for bereaved children and young people. After further training, ListeningEar established Butterflies, a dedicated activity-based therapy service for childrenand young people who had experienced bereavement and loss, which isdelivered across the North West today.Listening Ear’s Counselling service has full service accreditation under the BritishAssociation of Counselling and Psychotherapy (registered number 102805) andoperates within its Ethical Framework. BACP service accreditation provides thehighest assurances about Quality Management Systems relevant to counsellingand psychotherapy. It has a rigorous application process renewed every five years,with an annual return thereafter.In the last 3 years alone, we have supported over 2,000 adults, children and youngpeople affected by bereavement with BACP-accredited counselling andemotional support services. This means we have the practical experience andknowledge required to share best practice and what works with otherprofessionals.About your trainerTracy Allen-Lea is the Head of Clinical Services for Listening Ear and has worked therapeutically with children and young people for over fifteen years, designing and delivering group work and one-to-one support. Tracy is responsible for risk and incident management for all services and is a nominated safeguarding and child protection lead within the organisation. Tracy delivers all training and has recently written a new Diploma in Children and Young People’s Counselling. Tracy uses an engaging and interactive format for training courses including case scenarios, group exercises, discussion work, slide presentations, video clips and creative activities. LE prepares all handouts.
