T﻿HIS EVENT IS NOW SOLD OUTOur July Museum Late celebrates Royal Cornwall Musuem’s summer exhibition, <a href="https://www.royalcornwallmuseum.org.uk/exhibition/adrift" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Adrift: Lost at Sea</a>. The exhibition (running 11 July – 23 September) explores the presence of plastic in the ocean and on our beaches.This event will take a closer look at how different organisations have responded to the plastic washing up on our shores. With guests like Surfers Against Sewage and Finisterre talking about how we can combat plastic pollution, and others showing us how they respond through creative workshops. There will even be a chance to meet Tracey Williams, whose book ‘Adrift’ inspired this exhibition.Plus, by attending this event, you will have the chance to explore the museum – and Adrfit exhibition – after hours. So, join us for an evening of talks, book signings and creative workshops, and figure out how you’ll respond to being Lost at Sea.Events taking place over the evening will include:Book signingMeet Tracey Williams, author of Adrift, and get your book signed.Talk with Grace FisherGrace Fisher, Communities Manager at Surfers Against Sewage, will be sharing a bit about Plastic Free Communities, the Million Mile Clean Scheme, and their Brand Audit &amp; Dirty Dozen.Talk with Niamh O’LaoighreThe Head of Product Development and Technical at Finisterre, Niamh, will be discussing the use of plastic garment bags within the clothing industry. From there, she will explore Finisterre’s journey to find the best solutions and partnerships.Drop-in Willow WorkshopJoin <a href="https://www.annapopedesign.co.uk/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Anna Pope</a> and Porthleven based Withy Pot Maker, Tom Chambers, for this willow weaving workshop. Drop in to have a go at weaving a simple fish from willow, which you take home to hang on the wall, put on a shelf, or even attach it to a willow rod to act as a fishing rod! As you craft, you can learn more about the traditional and eco-friendly practice of making withy pots, a now critically endangered heritage craft. Creative Collaborative Workshop<a href="https://www.smartielidsonthebeach.co.uk/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Smartie Lids on the Beach</a> is run by Michelle Costello, who aims to raise awareness of the impact of plastic and waste in our oceans. Join her at this Museum Late to contribute to a large Lego themed piece of artwork using pieces of plastic collected from Cornish beaches. The final piece of work will be framed and displayed at the museum. Demonstration and stall from Cornish SplicedAt their stall, <a href="https://www.CornishSpliced.co.uk" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Cornish Spliced</a> will be demonstrating how to splice so that others can help to keep this heritage skill alive.
