Swings and Roundabouts Workshop at MADE

Cardiff MADE is a not for profit organisation, led by artists to bring unique and the extraordinary to to everyday audiences as part of daily life's encounter. Opening eyes to new music, visual language, performance and visual art forms through presentations within an intimate events space - by day a gallery, by night a bespoke venue that nurtures art into the open. MADE is also a cultural producer curating events in partnership with other community focused spaces and arts organisations such as Cathays Community centre, Tactile Bosch, Fizzi Events and Groundwork Pro. It has developed a highly successful programme of live perfomance events, notably the Electric Soup and Clear Cut strands.

Cardiff MADE

Join a small group in this participatory workshop within the exhibition Swings & Roundabouts, exploring games, memory and self-identity.

These workshops have been devised by Students of Creative and Therapeutic Arts at University of South Wales in response to the exhibition in collaboration with Charlotte Grayland. Looking at themes such as the childlike within adults, the significance of memories, building blocks of self-identity, place of rules and making new rules, drawing lines; the workshops will use Grayland&#x27;s ideas of gameplay as a starting point, and will be a safe and fun space to reconnect with some familiar structures, from a new perspective. For ages 16+.

In this newest solo exhibition, artist Charlotte Grayland presents Swings &amp; Roundabouts, supported by the Arts Council of Wales across two sister venues; Cardiff MADE and Oriel Y Bont, Treforest. The joint shows explore her personal relationship to childhood games as a metaphor for how we can navigate our lives. Considering the exhuming of memory through objects and game structures, whilst exploring the formation of identity in childhood, Grayland asks audiences to remember their collective pasts.
