Join us for a gravel cycle and discover the wildlife on the banks of the River Ericht in the heart of Scotland

Join us for a mostly flat gravel route that is also suitable for touring bikes. Discover the wildlife and landscapes on both banks of the River Ericht, connected by the historic Kitty Swanson’s Bridge on a ride through the heart of Scotland’s berry growing country with our experienced cycle leaders.Riding Time: Up to 2.5 hrs depending on fitnessCost: Free Start/Finish: Tescos, Welton Road, BlairgowrieNearest Parking: Wellmeadow car park, Blairgowrie Suitable for: Gravel and touring bikes (we recommend at least 30mm wide tyres)Total Distance: 14.7 kmTotal Ascent: 70 mTerrain: A mixture of quiet roads, cycle paths and tracksAccess: Some gates that can easily be opened, a short section of steps at Kitty Swanson’s BridgeRoute Category: EasyKey Facilities on Route: Blairgowrie (shops, accommodation, EV chargers, restaurants, cafe)OS Landranger Map: 53All participants must bring a road-worthy bicycle with them and a spare inner tube of the right size for their tyres in case of any punctures. Participants must wear a bike helmet and bring a waterproof jacket with them and any snacks and drinks which they require. Children attending the ride must be over the age of 10, competent cyclists and accompanied by an adult. This session is part of <a href="https://cateranecomuseum.co.uk" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">The Cateran Ecomuseum</a>’s Travel For All Our Tomorrow’s programme which offers a number of free, active travel for leisure experiences co-designed with local communities and led by local people and which aims to encourage more people in the Tayside region to enjoy what is on their doorstep, rather than increase their carbon footprint by travelling further afield.The guided cycle ride is being delivered by the Cateran Ecomuseum with the support of Inspiring Scotland and the Scottish Government’s Rural and Island Communities Ideas into Action (RICIA) Fund and Paths for All Smarter Choices Smarter Places programme.
