Since 2006 our Bovey Tracey shop has been hosting workshops from designers and teachers such as Anniken Allis and Claire Crompton on a huge range of topics - from beginner's knitting to advanced techniques to take your knitting and crochet to the next level. By booking one of our workshops not only do you treat yourself to a new skill, but also a lovely day out in good company.

Spin A Yarn Devon

Join us in our award-winning yarn shop in Bovey Tracey for a workshop from internationally acclaimed designer Anniken Allis.
In this class you'll learn how to design a crescent shawl. You'll learn how to shape the shawl, how to choose stitch patterns and yarns, how to chart your chosen stitch pattern, how to write up a basic pattern that you can follow to knit your shawl.
This will be a practical class where you'll get experience in working through the practical elements of the shawl you want to create. You may wish to bring a knitted swatch of any stitch patterns you'd like to use but this isn't essential.
Please bring: Notebook, squared paper, pen, pencil, eraser, calculator, yarn(s) you'd like to use for the shawl and suitable needles. If you have any stitch dictionaries please bring those too.
Skills needed: Knit, purl, cast on and cast off, ability to read a basic shawl pattern.
Please bring your own lunch. There are also many local places to buy lunch nearby.
Tea-time treats and refreshments will also be served.
