Festival of Broadcasting

Our 'Festival of Broadcasting' celebrates 100 years of Scottish broadcasting. This programme of free events, talks and workshops will run from January to April at Kelvin Hall.

Join us as we delve into the extensive Grampian and Scottish Television archives to discover women on the Scottish small screen and how they have been portrayed. From the starting point of a 1980s DIY programme for women, to women in sport and media, from croft to city – we'll be showing a varied programme of television to entertain and educate, some of which you may never have seen before! The National Library of Scotland’s Moving Image Archive holds collections of Scottish Television and Grampian TV programmes from the 1960s through to the 1990s, including a wide range of documentaries, light entertainment shows and news footage. Our guest curator Caireen Stuart has been looking through these collections along with items from the STV Group archive to select clips for this varied programme. Caireen and curators Ann Cameron and Liam Paterson will be on hand afterwards to lead what we know will be a lively discussion.
