Come and join the Cateran Ecomuseum onan immersive family friendly foraging walk around Alyth.Autumn is a great time for foraging in this part of Scotland and in this session we’ll explore the full range of our late summer/early autumn wild larder!We will be identifying, picking and eating a number of delicious edibles that present themselves along the way. There will be discussion about how ou r ancestors ate seasonally and their deep knowledge of the nutritional values and medicinal use of wild plants. We will also look at the conservation of species and their habitats, what to take and what to leave. And of course there’s use and storage of wild food, recipes and lots, lots more.Grade of walk: 2 (Moderate [c.2.5km])Cost: FreeAssembly point: Alyth Craft Tourism, Eastfield House, Bamff Road, Alyth PH11 8DR (Strathmore Terrace entrance)Please bring snacks and drinking water, dress warmly and waterproofed and wear sturdy shoes. There are no public toilets on this route. If you would like to collect any items you must bring your own bags and also wear gloves if wanting to pick items from thorny bushes.This session is part of <a href="https://cateranecomuseum.co.uk" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">The Cateran Ecomuseum’s</a> Travel For All Our Tomorrow’s programme which offers a number of free, active travel for leisure experiences co-designed with local communities and led by local people and which aims to encourage more people in the Tayside region to enjoy what is on their doorstep, rather than increase their carbon footprint by travelling further afield.The walk is being delivered by the Cateran Ecomuseum with the support of Inspiring Scotland and the Scottish Government’s Rural and Island Communities Ideas into Action (RICIA) Fund and Paths for All Smarter Choices Smarter Places programme.
