Workshops

Our seasonal learning programme is designed to help people get into gardening for wellbeing, whether that be foraging the hedgerow, making a seasonal wreath, or learning how to compost.

In the morning Pete will introduce beekeeping and honeybees. His 'virtual hive' gives an insight into the fascinating world inside a hive, and what that means for a beekeeper. A tasty, nutritious lunch will be provided. In the afternoon we'll get practical, visiting our hives and engaging in a challenge to build beehive frames. Winding up with tasting honey from across Nottingham and judging who had built the best frame. You will leave this session with a suite of astounding bee facts to tell your family and friends, an understanding of how to work safely with bees, and how to build a hive frame.About Pete the BeekeeperPete has been looking after honeybee hives on one of our projects for well over 10 years, and his beekeeping experience spans even further, which has now built to being part of a small team looking after hives across Nottinghamshire! His enthusiasm for bees is completely infectious, and his knowledge is seemingly never-ending.Beekeeping suitsWe can provide beekeeping suits in a range of sizes. On the booking form, we'll ask for your height and waist measurements so that we can bring the right number of suits.Weather dependencyThe practical hive-based part of this workshop is weather dependent.
