5K Run ‘n’ Walk Fun-Day

Ascend Health will be hosting its first Family & Friends Fun-day Run 'n' Walk 5k event, finishing with one lap of  Palmer Park Stadium.

<h3>The 5K Run 'n' Walk Fun-Day will be held in Palmer Park, Wokingham Road, Reading, on April 30th, 2023 starting at 9 am with the 5k Run and Couch to 5k challenge and 10:30 for the Family &amp; Friends 5K walk. </h3>The 5k is run on the public path around the park and stadium, with the race ending with one lap around the monumental Palmer Park Stadium within the newly refurbished GLL - Better Leisure Centre. Refreshing juices, teas, and Coffees will be served from Tutu's Restaurant, which will also be the starting point for both events and the finishing line for the 5k family &amp; Friends walk. About Ascend Health - The Event HostsThrough monthly meetings at Reading Borough Council with guest speakers, we provide educational information on healthcare services and personnel that support diverse local groups by linking them to reputable sources. Our last Prostate Cancer Incentive and screening, through <a href="https://www.readinglions.org.uk/index/prostatecancerawarenessandscreeningevent.html" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Reading Lions</a>, resulted in a positive diagnosis for several members of our run club, who sought medical attention to remove cancerous cells. Blood donation is another area we champion strongly, and we hope this event helps spread awareness that breaks down the barriers to the broader community donating to reduce the effects of blood related diseases that have a higher risk rate on black people; Sickle Cell in Particular.
