Making the Most of Your Hearing (April 2023)

Walthew House is an independent charity in Stockport that provides practical and emotional support to people who are Blind, Visually Impaired, Deaf, Hard of Hearing or who have Dual Sensory Loss.The charity was founded in 1882 and is named after its founder John Walthew, a former Mayor of Stockport.

'Making the Most of Your Hearing' is a free half-day course for people with mild to moderate hearing loss or deteriorating hearing.

&#x27;Making the Most of Your Hearing&#x27; is a free half-day course for people with mild to moderate hearing loss or deteriorating hearing, or anyone who cares or works with people with hearing loss.The course will cover:• Tips for making the most of your residual hearing.• Assistive technology – hearing aids, loop systems, amplified phones, text relay services and other devices to aid communication.• An introduction to lip-reading.• An introduction to sign language.Refreshments of drinks/biscuits will be provided free of charge on the course, but there is also a tuck trolley selling snacks and hot bacon/sausage barms available to order in-house for £1.50 (vegetarian options available). Alternatively there is a Pilkington&#x27;s Bakery a short walk from Walthew House on Shaw Heath.P﻿lease note that there is a small car park to the rear of Walthew House, but if this is full there is on-street parking in the surrounding areas, but please be mindful of the resident-only restrictions in place.For more information contact Walthew House on 0161 480 2612 or email admin@walthewhouse.org.uk
