Our missionis to promote understanding of why infant mental health is important, and to support the professional development of all practitioners working with parents, infants and toddlers.AiMH UK is an interdisciplinary, not-for-profit organization, promoting understanding about infant mental health (IMH).  AiMH’s primary function is to support the UK community of infant mental health practitioners to come together and learn from each other and to contribute to the raising of standards of IMH practice. <h3>Facilitating Attuned Interactions: Enhancing Parental Engagement &amp; Reflective Practice with the FAN technique</h3>The FAN was developed by Linda Gilkerkson in the United States, originally as an approach to working with parents of fussy babies. It is a model that can be used by anyone in the system around a baby: parents, practitioners, social workers, health visitors, medical and nursing practitioners. It can be used to support parents in finding new ways to relate to and connect with their babies.We are delighted that Linda herself will be joining us to share the essence of the FAN technique. We will also hear from an award-winning team in the UK who have been integrating the FAN across all aspects of their work and amongst all practitioners in their team from administrators to service managers. Participants will take away tools for: <ul><li>Sticky moments and tricky conversations</li><li>Enhancing understanding across teams and with families we work with</li><li>Supporting parents to feel connected to their baby</li></ul>We will hear powerful case examples which illustrate how the FAN works in practice and how it can be used with parents of infants and as a tool for reflective supervision. There will be opportunities to put key aspects of the FAN into practice and there will be break out rooms for practitioners and supervisors to ask questions and develop skills. There will be take aways for everyone no matter what your role in early relational health. We hope you will be able to join us!

<h3>Linda Gilkerson, PhD, LSW</h3>Professor and Director, Irving B. Harris Infant Studies ProgramExecutive Director, Fussy Baby Network, Erikson InstituteLinda Gilkerson, Ph.D., LSW, is a professor at Erikson Institute where she directs the graduate training programs in infancy and infant mental health. She founded Erikson’s first clinical initiative, Fussy Baby Network, a national model home visiting program for parents of infants under one year. Dr. Gilkerson is the developer of the FAN (Facilitating Attuned Interactions), an approach that is used widely in home visitation, early intervention, early childhood mental health consultation programs, and physician training to facilitate parent engagement and reflective practice. Her research and publications focus on relationship-based approaches and reflective supervision in a range of settings. She was a long-time board member of Zero to Three, lead or served on many early childhood task forces in Illinois and was recently awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Bright Promises Foundation for her work on behalf of young children.Download the programme
