Every month we host an open mic for YOU to share your words, poems and stories. This month is a little different, as CRWTH Magazine have taken over Dyddiau Du!Join CRWTH and The Silurian Folklore Society for an open mic evening of poetry featured in CRWTH and folktales from The Silurian Folklore Society. The first portion of the evening will start with poets featured thoughout the magazine and then a poetry open mic, the second portion of the evening will be led by The Silurian Folklore Society, followed by a folktale open mic. Luke Huw Llewellyn &amp; The Silurian Folklore SocietyOriginally from Neath, but having now lived in Cardiff for just over ten years, Luke Huw Llewellyn spent most of his life involved in the local music &amp; arts scene in various forms. Alongside the amatuer music and poetry, he’s always had a deep obsession with the ancient stories and traditions of Cymru, ever since Grandad Llewellyn would regale him with them as a child in the most captivating of ways. Why did they never teach us any of this in school, he always wondered? From this point Luke has set out to collect as much Welsh folklore, wisdom, books and stories as his bookcase and head can try to hold. Dabbling in many paths, he has been extremely fortunate, by chance, to have studied under, and spent time with some of the greatest modern minds on the subject, and now wishes to provide a platform and channel for others to do the same.The Silurian Folklore Society is not just for Silurians but anyone interested in the land, its people and their stories, focused on Cymru of old and new. Based in South East Wales, the society puts on friendly, accessible and fun, bi-lingual Welsh culture events that aim to introduce people to parts of their heritage that they might not necessarily be familiar with, be it through the medium of conversation, storytelling, poetry, music, guides or gigs. Yn wreiddiol o Gastell Nedd, ond wedi byw yng Nghaerdydd ers ychydig dros ddeng mlynedd bellach, treuliodd Luke Huw Llewellyn y rhan fwyaf o'i oes yn ymwneud â'r byd cerddoriaeth a chelfyddydau lleol mewn gwahanol ffurfiau. Ochr yn ochr â’r gerddoriaeth a’r farddoniaeth amatur, mae bob amser wedi bod ag obsesiwn dwfn â hanesion a thraddodiadau hynafol Cymru, byth ers y byddai Taid Llewellyn yn ei adrodd iddo fel plentyn yn y ffyrdd mwyaf cyfareddol. Pam na wnaethon nhw erioed ddysgu dim o hyn i ni yn yr ysgol, roedd bob amser yn meddwl tybed? O'r pwynt hwn mae Luke wedi mynd ati i gasglu cymaint o lên gwerin, doethineb, llyfrau a straeon Cymreig ag y gall ei gwpwrdd llyfrau a'i ben geisio eu dal. Gan ddablo mewn sawl llwybr, mae wedi bod yn hynod ffodus, trwy hap a damwain, i fod wedi astudio o dan, a threulio amser gyda rhai o'r meddyliau modern mwyaf ar y pwnc, ac yn awr mae'n dymuno darparu llwyfan a sianel i eraill wneud yr un peth.Nid ar gyfer Silwriaid yn unig y mae Cymdeithas Llên Gwerin y Silwriaid ond hefyd i unrhyw un sy’n ymddiddori yn y wlad, ei phobl a’u straeon, gan ganolbwyntio ar Gymru’r hen a’r newydd. Wedi’i lleoli yn Ne-ddwyrain Cymru, mae’r gymdeithas yn cynnal digwyddiadau diwylliannol Cymraeg cyfeillgar, hygyrch a hwyliog, dwyieithog sy’n ceisio cyflwyno pobl i rannau o’u treftadaeth nad ydynt o reidrwydd yn gyfarwydd â nhw, boed hynny drwy gyfrwng sgwrs, adrodd straeon, barddoniaeth, cerddoriaeth, 'guides' neu gigs. Yn ein cyfres ddiweddaraf, rydym wedi cyflwyno ‘Noson Gyda Derwydd’ a ‘Noson Gyda Bardd’. Mae mynediad am ddim i’n digwyddiadau bob amser gan ein bod yn credu’n sylfaenol na ddylai fod pris ar fynediad i’n diwylliant cyfunol. This event is a pay what you can event. All donations go towards helping us to run the space and cover our costs, as well as to keep delivering a banging schedule of events each month.
