This webinar is designed to help York residents find out about key issues in relation to the city's draft transport strategy.

City of York Council’s draft local transport strategy has been prepared by officers and councillors, including a cross-party working group. The document examines the evidence, sets out implications and suggests the type of interventions which could be used to overcome the challenges within York’s existing transport system.The council is now embarking on a citywide conversation to hear ideas and suggestions from residents, businesses, commuters and communities. The conversation will be delivered over several stages, starting with a series of webinars to discuss the initial ideas and identify solutions which could be added to the plan. Later this year the council will carry out a detailed consultation including holding stakeholder roundtables to progress the strategy.This webinar, ‘How can we improve our walk, cycle and bus networks?’, will cover a range of issues set out in the draft local transport strategy, including discussions of how residents could be encouraged to adopt these modes of transport when moving around the city.How the meeting will workWe will email you a Microsoft Teams meeting invitation the day before the event so you can attend online. You will be able to watch a presentation and ask questions of the presenters in the ‘chat’ section of the meeting. These will be answered by the presenters at the end of the session, not on the chat itself. Cameras and microphones will be turned off for attendees.AccessibilityWe will have a British Sign Language interpreter signing at the meeting.You may also wish to use the Live Captions option in Teams. Do this by selecting ‘More…’ in the main menu, scrolling down to ‘Language and speech’, then select ‘Turn on live captions’.RecordingWe will be recording the meeting for the purpose of sharing with those who cannot attend afterwards and by accepting the invite, you are consenting to this. If you still want to add any comments or questions to the meeting chat ie. not be identified in captions and transcripts, you need to go to settings and turn off 'Automatically identify me in meeting captions and transcripts'.
