Do you worry about waste? Do you loathe litter? Do you like making stuff up? If you answer YES to any of these, this workshop is for you!

W﻿aste Stories WorkshopT﻿his Waste Stories workshop will give you the chance to make up some stuff about rubbish in the company of like-minded (or very different) people. Come along, look at some bits of rubbish and make up a story!Why make up Waste Stories?Waste is one of our biggest challenges. The waste we produce – and the ways we dispose of it – pollutes our environment and gobbles up energy. In Scotland alone, we produce millions of tonnes of waste every year – and while we currently recycle just under half of our household waste, recycling produces pollution and uses energy too. It’s time we got creative, reduced our trash and turned it into treasure. Even though we know we need to do something, people can often feel powerless. Stories can change that, by helping us to see things in new ways and from new angles. Waste Stories provides a space for people to make up and share stories. It’s our imagination, energy and willingness to challenge the status quo that offer hope for change.

What are Waste Stories?An abandoned teddy bear - a pile of take-away coffee cups – foil confetti on a grassy river bank – unfinished perfume testers– any of these could be seeds for a story. Each person who sees these will imagine a different past or future, growing their own Waste Story. The Waste Stories project is amassing a library of such story seeds, found on our streets, playgrounds, beaches, rivers and fields, to use in workshops and other activities.
