Norfolk Record Office (NRO) collects and preserves unique archives relating to the history of Norfolk and makes them accessible to people all over the world.The events listed here are run from our base at The Archive Centre, Martineau Lane, Norwich.   Free parking is available at County Hall for Archive Centre users. A celebration of the 650th anniversary of the visions of Julian of Norwich

May 2023 sees the 650th anniversary of the ‘showings’ or visions of Julian of Norwich. During the session will read a lecture written 50 years ago especially for the six hundredth anniversary celebrations, by the then Assistant Archivist of the Norfolk and Norwich Record Office, F.I. Dunn, BA - Hermits, Anchorites and Recluses: A Study with reference to Medieval Norwich.  It is a fascinating insight into the remarkably high number of recluses living around the time of Julian – none of whom, unfortunately, have left us a book to reveal their inner life as Julian has done.
