We celebrate the 50th anniversary of the RNCM through a spotlight on archives, musicians past and present, and Manchester's music heritage

Manchester Central Library

While the RNCM is celebrating a half century of music making, its roots delve deep into the industrial origins of this city. Join archivist Heather Roberts to hear how Manchester's music heritage has been built on the foundations of philanthropy, wellbeing, and self-improvement, all in response to the 19th century industrial explosion of the city. From immigrant merchants to Madchester, from the cheap seats to raves in fields, our city's musical identity is a part of a single, extraordinary narrative. Pick up one of these threads with Heather and follow the story of Manchester's music.

DonationThe event is free of charge but as a small charity we welcome your donations as your help will enable us to continue our work in these difficult times. Suggested donations from £3.00 - £10.00. All donations gratefully received. Thank you.
