We celebrate the 50th anniversary of the RNCM through a spotlight on archives, musicians past and present, and Manchester's music heritage

Manchester Central Library

While the RNCM is celebrating a half century of music making, its roots delve deep into the industrial origins of this city. Join archivist Heather Roberts to hear how Manchester&#x27;s music heritage has been built on the foundations of philanthropy, wellbeing, and self-improvement, all in response to the 19th century industrial explosion of the city. From immigrant merchants to Madchester, from the cheap seats to raves in fields, our city&#x27;s musical identity is a part of a single, extraordinary narrative. Pick up one of these threads with Heather and follow the story of Manchester&#x27;s music.

DonationThe event is free of charge but as a small charity we welcome your donations as your help will enable us to continue our work in these difficult times. Suggested donations from £3.00 - £10.00. All donations gratefully received. Thank you.
