<h2>Event summary</h2>St John&#x27;s Innovation Centre, in collaboration with Innovate UK EDGE, Taylor Vinters and tech executive search firm Bailey Fisher, are planning an event that will offer invaluable insight into the ways in which Founders of tech businesses can recruit and retain talent effectively. The session will share advice on: <ul><li>employee engagement</li><li>employment structures </li><li>corporate culture/purpose</li><li>hybrid working/four day week</li><li>Diversity, equity and inclusion</li><li>vacancy marketing and hiring practices</li></ul>Our experts will also explore the challenge of overseas recruitment to secure talent, plus related immigration issues.After the presentations, delegates will be able to pick expert brains at a panel Q&amp;A, followed by networking and refreshments.This is a fringe event as part of the inaugural Cambridge Tech Week 2023, bringing together the knowledge, insight and experience of this region’s tech community to fuel innovation and foster connection.<h2>Speaker biogs</h2>Alix Beese, Managing Associate, Taylor VintersAlix specialises in providing responsive legal support for clients on HR issues. This includes advising on grievance and disciplinary matters and drafting or reviewing a range of employment documentation, including contracts of employment and consultancy agreements; disciplinary and grievance procedures; employment handbooks and workplace policies and settlement agreements. Alix helps employers by quickly getting to know their business, their objectives and their values, which allows him to provide carefully considered practical and commercial advice.Hamza Malik, Managing Associate, Taylor VintersHamza leads the immigration team at Taylor Vinters. He’s experienced in advising large multinational companies, SMEs, growth companies (including start-up and scale-up operations), charities, and social ventures. His work involves assisting with day-to-day advice with respect to sponsorship, right to work, and immigration applications. He also provides strategic immigration advice and regularly conduct seminars and webinars for clients. He regularly advises highly skilled (Global Talent visas) and high net-worth individuals on migrating to the UK. Andrew Moore, Managing Partner, Bailey FisherAndrew is a co-owner of Bailey Fisher, an independent executive search firm building boards and leadership teams for ambitious technology and life sciences companies across the UK. He has over 20 years’ experience hiring talent to fuel growth, working with clients from venture backed start-ups through to mature, publicly listed businesses. Since joining Bailey Fisher in 2011 Andrew has supported the growth of some of Cambridge and the UK’s most successful businesses, making key leadership hires for companies that have subsequently raised significant funding, exited to multi-nationals or received £1bn+ valuations. Andrew took over the leadership of the Bailey Fisher following an MBO in 2018.Jake Ryan, Senior Associate, Bailey FisherJake is a Senior Associate working with growth technology companies to hire impactful C-suite leaders. Jake joined from Cambridge start-up Origami, a venture backed green energy data platform, where he was a Talent Specialist. Prior to Origami, Jake worked for a SaaS start-up and an early-stage software development business.
