WHAT IS TEXTILE FUTURES? From plasters to parachutes, suits to sneakers and carpets to car seats, textiles are everywhere and are a vital aspect of many other sectors including health, hospitality, agriculture and public services.Textile careers are incredibly varied and cross many different sectors and require incredibly varied skill sets.For the first time, TEXTILE FUTURES will bring together textile industry professionals and educators to bring to life the science, manufacturing, design and innovation of textiles. TOUR University fashion, textiles &amp; costume facilitiesWATCH live science experiments in the technical textile labsMEET local textile manufacturersEXPLORE career pathway optionsBetween 11am - 2pm you will have the chance to meet the manufacturers, see and feel the fabrics that are produced in West Yorkshire, ask questions to industry innovators, take part in a workshop and learn more about career, education and post-16 training options. Tours of the fashion and textile facilities at the Barbara Hepworth Building ( including the graduate showcase) will run at 11:15am / 12:15pm / 13:15pmTours &amp; live textile Science experiments in the Technical Textiles Research Centre will run at 11:15am / 12:15pm / 13:15pmW﻿hen booking tickets if you would like to attend specific tour or the Arts Council session below then please select the relevant timed ticket.“Arts Council England is the national development body for arts and culture across England, working to enrich people’s lives. We support a range of activities across the arts, museums and libraries – from theatre to visual art, reading to dance, music to literature, and crafts to collections. Great art and culture inspires us, brings us together and teaches us about ourselves and the world around us. In short, it makes life better. Between 2018 and 2022, we will have invested over £1.45 billion of public money from government and an estimated £860 million from the National Lottery to help create these experiences for as many people as possible across the country.***** THIS SESSION HAS BEEN POSTPONED*****ARTS COUNCIL ENGLAND FUNDING ADVICE SESSION This short discussion session, aimed at practitioners and makers, will be an opportunity for you to find out more about what Arts Council England do and how you can apply for funding.The discussion will cover:<ul><li>An introduction to Arts Council England</li></ul><ul><li>2 main funding programme: National Lottery Project Grants and our fund aimed at individual development: Developing your Creative Practice (DYCP)</li><li>How to get started + top tips for your DYCP application.</li></ul>The session will be run by Daniel Cutmore, Arts Council’s place lead for Kirklees * Places are limited - please book a ticket if you would like to attend this free session.G﻿ETTING HEREThe University is a 10 minute walk from Huddersfield train station.
