Maths!? Incomprehensible symbols that seem to come out of thin air! Or does maths really help us make sense of the world around us? And if it does, then why can’t we use the much-dreaded algebra in our everyday lives? Who invented pi, or, how was it discovered? Why do statements in maths need proof? Why can’t we divide by zero? How does the tube map take us where it supposed to do, but London does not really look like that? And can a never-ending infinity really have infinite different states?

If you know a young person who has asked any of these questions, this workshop is for them! A day full of story telling to understand the biggest mysteries of mathematics, that are not real mysteries, just truths waiting to be discovered or invented!This workshop is strictly for 15–18 year-olds and will include a 30 minute lunch break, during which students will be allowed to leave the Ri building. Students should bring lunch and a drink.Refunds can only be issued for tickets cancelled at least two weeks (14 calendar days) in advance of the event date. Please note that this supersedes our normal event terms and conditions.
