Please join us at 4pm on the 24 May 2023 for drinks, food and networking and to hear more about the new XR Network+ This event is open to everyone working in virtual production, VR, XR and immersive technologies, whether you are a researcher, a company or individual creative.XR Network+ is establishing a series of research funds to fund activities at universities, working in conjunction with industry partners on innovative aspects of real-time and virtual production, XR, VR, Immersive in film, television, VFX, animation, games, digital fashion, and immersive experiences. The XR Network+ Virtual Production in the Digital Economy is a project led by the University of York, funded by EPSRC, to explore and understand the transformational impact of digital technologies on aspects of community life, cultural experiences, future society and the economy. Creative Informatics, as a key partner, is hosting this event to introduce our community to XR Network+ and the challenge-led funding that will be available through this project. We want to engage with researchers working in virtual production and hear the views of local industry and individual creatives about how this investment could support their development and advancement over the coming years. We hope XR Network+ will allow you to connect with a UK wide network of researchers, creatives, and industry partners.

A﻿bout XR Network+<a href="https://xrstories.co.uk/about/networkplus/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">https://xrstories.co.uk/about/networkplus/</a> This new network combines expertise from five highly successful Arts and Humanities Research Council (UKRI) funded Creative Industries Cluster Programme project partners, bringing together expertise from across the UK to support the development of virtual production. XR Network+ is led by the University of York (XR Stories), with the University of Edinburgh (Creative Informatics); University of Cardiff (Clwstwr); University of the Arts London’s Business of Fashion, Textiles and Technology hub and Ulster University&#x27;s Future Screens Northern Ireland.Virtual production technologies are evolving the landscape of technology-driven storytelling, from film and television content production to live and immersive experiences, with productions such as Amazon’s Prime’s ‘The Rings of Power’ shot at Leavesden Studios in virtual production. These technologies are already having an immense impact on the screen industries with significant potential to transform live and performance sectors too - exemplified by groundbreaking projects such as The Royal Shakespeare Company’s DREAM to recent applications on Abba Voyage. The UK screen industries sector is investing heavily in studio infrastructure to meet the demand for the significant growth in VP / XR production. Alongside this, researchers in the XR Network+ will operate across 20+ connected universities from across the UK. XR Network+ will explore ideas, technologies, and creative practice in VP/XR to unlock its fullest potential across the whole of the digital economy and related spill-over sectors.By registering for this event you are giving explicit consent for us to use this data in the Creative Informatics monitoring and reporting processes. The data is managed confidentially. Your data will be held by the Creative Informatics delivery team based at the University of Edinburgh, with some data shared with our project partners, the University of York, and our funders the Arts and Humanities Research Council , the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council and the Policy and Evidence Centre based at Nesta. Your data will only be reported in anonymous aggregated forms and will always be processed in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018 and therefore also in accordance with the General Data Protection Act 2018 and therefore also in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
