Venue: Penarth Pier Pavilion – Quartet Draig ‘Beyond the Shore’Date: Friday 2nd June 2023Time: 7.30 to 8.30pm (doors and bar open at 7pm)Tickets: £15 per person (booking fee applies)This event is part of the RWCMD-in-Residence programme, a series of creative projects from Royal Welsh College musicians and recent graduates, presented in partnership with Penarth Pavilion.Quartet Draig will be performing ‘Beyond the Shore ’ a concert of classical music inspired by vibrant landscapes and expansive horizons, for their second concert at Penarth Pavilion. The Quartet is formed of current and past scholarship students from Royal Welsh College of Music Drama, Royal Northern College of Music and Guildhall School of Music and Drama. As a quartet they have performed at the Wigmore Hall in the CAVATINA Competition, and in 2021 were Junior Quartet in Residence at the ESTA Conference. During their time at RWCMD they were recipients of the Albion String Quartet and the Bridgewood &amp; Neitzert prizes, and they will also be returning to the Wigmore Hall in February 2023 to compete in the Musicians&#x27; Company competition. Quartet Draig have been described as “An ensemble with energy, a wholly appropriate volatility within its interpretation, and buoyancy of tutti sound” by acclaimed music critic, Richard Bratby. On an individual basis, between the quartet they also play with orchestras including BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Welsh National Opera, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Birmingham Royal Ballet, Sinfonia Cymru, and London Philharmonic Orchestra (Foyle Future Firsts). Alongside this they all regularly engage in education and outreach work, as well as other chamber music settings. This concert will include &#x27;Oh What a Beautiful Morning&#x27; from Rogers and Hammerstein&#x27;s 1941 musical &#x27;Oklahoma&#x27;. Also, &#x27;Moon River&#x27; by Henry Mancini, Butterworth&#x27;s &#x27;The Banks of Green Willow&#x27; and the waltz &quot;By the Sleepy Lagoon &quot;composed by British composer Eric Coates and pieces by Brahms and Haydn. Please join us for what is sure to be a most wonderful evening of romantic classics!Seating is unreserved. Bydd y Pedwarawd Draig yn perfformio &#x27;Beyond the Shore&#x27; cyngerdd o gerddoriaeth glasurol a ysbrydolwyd gan dirweddau bywiog a gorwelion eang, ar gyfer eu hail gyngerdd ym Mhafiliwn Penarth. 
Mae&#x27;r pedwarawd yn cynnwys myfyrwyr ysgolheictod cyfredol a blaenorol o CBCDC, Coleg Cerdd Brenhinol y Gogledd ac Ysgol Gerdd a Drama Neuadd y Gorfforaeth. 
Fel pedwarawd maent wedi perfformio yn Neuadd Wigmore yng Nghystadleuaeth CAVATINA, ac yn 2021 nhw oedd y Pedwarawd Preswyl Iau yng Nghynhadledd ESTA. Yn ystod eu hamser yn CBCDC, maent wedi ennill gwobrau Albion String Quartet a Bridgewood &amp; Neitzert, ac maent hefyd yn dychwelyd i Neuadd Wigmore ym mis Chwefror 2023 i gystadlu yn y gystadleuaeth Musicians&#x27; Company.

Ochr yn ochr â hyn, maent i gyd yn cymryd rhan yn rheolaidd mewn addysg a gwaith allgymorth, a hefyd yn ymgysylltu â lleoliadau cerddoriaeth siambr eraill.
