Join us to celebrate the amazing work of community archives and heritage groups!

All welcome to join us!Join us to celebrate and hear about the groups and projects that you wanted to find out more about from the Community Archive Heritage Group Conference in Galway 2022. We asked people to create a poster linked with the conference theme, Meitheal, and now is your opportunity to hear about how their hard work and team efforts have produced interesting and successful community-led projects.We had a fantastic number and variety of community archive heritage groups respond to our Call for Contributions and we will continue to highlight the wonderful work groups do at our next CAHG Conference in UCL, London on 19 July.We will hear from 4 speakers (all with posters from last year). Please note the programme may be subject to change:1﻿8:30-18:35 Welcome18:35-19.00 Lilian Lawson - Secretary - Deaf History Scotland. The presentation will describe how and why the Scottish Deaf Archive was set up, and challenges of maintaining these archives.Bernie Doherty - Archaeologist - Galway Community Archaeology. Bernie will give a brief overview of her role as Galway County Community Archaeologist and how she has assisted communities, groups, societies, educators, government bodies and individuals in the promotion and preservation of archaeological sites and monuments in County Galway.19:00-19:05 Comfort Break19:05-19:30 Linda Fitzpatrick - Head Curator - Scottish Fisheries Museum,Fife, Linda will give an overview of the FishNet digitisation project, funded by the Museums Association Digital Innovation and Engagement Fund in 2021 – 22. With the help and commitment of volunteers from across Scotland and beyond, FishNet enabled the museum to share its collection of archive images of national significance online via a new database.Hazel Morrison - Moycullen Heritage Group (overall winners) Hazel will talk about the group’s work of researching, recording, preserving, and sharing the history and heritage of their locality. The society’s archives range from a late 1700’s local census, to oral history recordings, and even a big village family tree of over 11,000 names to date! 1﻿9:30-19:45 Q+A and DiscussionThere will be BSL interpreters available throughout the event.
