Countdown to Coronation

These events are organised by the London Region of the Royal Photographic Society (RPS) which organises events primarily for the London Members of the RPS but events are open to all whether RPS Members or not and whether in London or not.

Westminster Abbey

Let’s record this amazing time in our photos – in a book, in an exhibition, online! Some suggestions below, but you will have your own ideas!•	The prep - Setting up for the big day. Erecting flags, barriers, soldiers rehearsing etc (Rehearsals have already started!)•	The Parade - to and from the Coronation and the balcony scenes. Groups gathered round the big screens to watch. Will there be a flypast?•	The Context - people traveling to and from the event, crowds watching and enjoying it, media people doing stand ups, souvenir sellers etc.•	The Aftermath - clearing up, winding down•	Events around the Coronation such as the concert at Windsor, Street Parties and Games•	The Protests – for those of you who love to photograph activism!•	Those ignoring the “big day” – on the beaches, in their gardens, walking the dog!•	In central London or elsewhere•	Anything else you can think of!Who can take part. Anyone can take part. Whether a monarchist or not, we think this is simply an opportunity not to be missed and there should be something for everyone to enjoy – photographing events leading up to, during and after the event – following in the footsteps of Cartier-Bresson perhaps! Everywhere and Anywhere. Not just in Central London (although that will of course be a focus) but outside in other towns and cities, parks and gardens, where events will be taking place and “the main event” running on big screens perhaps.How to take part. Take some pictures between now and May 8th, edit and upload to four Dropboxes (provided in your booking confirmation email) up to maximum of about 25 which you think best show an aspect or aspects of the “event” – in the categories described above.What will happen with my images, where will they be shown? We look forward to your ideas and will listen to them. Our current thinking is a book, an outdoor exhibition (on the railings in Putney for example) and adding a section to the Projects Exhibition at the Espacio Gallery 10th to 15th October this year. If we have sufficient material from you all, we may be able to do a special “one-off” exhibition.important notes:You will need to sign in here on this Eventbrite page.The Dropbox links will be in the confirmation e-mail you receive on signing up.You do not have to have a Dropbox Account to upload images - just follow the instructions you receive and either upload or drag and drop your images. Your name will be added from your details in Dropbox when you upload.As with all our events, only images suitable for a family audience will be considered.When Exhibitions, Books etc. are planned, you will be asked to contribute on a cost only basis to the costs of printing, hiring of space etc.
