The Cyprus High Commission

<p>        Η ομιλήτρια  θα παρουσιάσει ιστορικά στοιχεία για την κατεχόμενη κωμόπολη Ριζοκαρπάσου και θα εξετάσει   τους λόγους για τους οποίους αναπτύχθηκε στο άκρο της χερσονήσου Καρπασίας αυτός ο ιδιαίτερος και μοναδικός ενδυματολογικός πολιτισμός. Επιπρόσθετα, θα γίνουν αναφορές από πότε το Καρπάσι (Carpasso ή Carpasse στις πηγές επί Λατινοκρατίας) μετατρέπεται σε Ριζοκάρπασο (Risokarpaso) και γιατί ολόκληρη η χερσόνησος με την προφραγκική/βυζαντινή ονομασία από Ακρωτίκη μετατράπηκε από τους Φράγκους και υιοθετήθηκε στη συνέχεια και από τους Βενετούς σε Carpasso ή Carpasse, που αργότερα αποδόθηκε στην Ελληνική με το όνομα Καρπασία. 
</p><p>       Στη διάλεξη, επίσης, θα αναφερθούν οι λόγοι εξαιτίας των οποίων αυτές οι λαϊκές ενδυμασίες  διατηρήθηκαν και μέχρι την τουρκική εισβολή και κατοχή του 1974. 
</p>
