Event SynopsisThe East Midlands Academic Health Science Network (AHSN) presents the Accelerating FemTech: East Midlands event, an in-person event spotlighting the burgeoning opportunities for innovation in women's health. Part of the Accelerating FemTech programme, the agenda for this event will feature expert insights from key stakeholders and provide networking opportunities for innovators within the FemTech landscape.The event will be introduced by Nicole McGlennon, Managing Director of East Midlands AHSN and throughout the day, delegates will hear from esteemed speakers including:•	Dame Barbara Hakin, a renowned system leader with rich clinical and managerial experience. Following her role as CEO of East Midlands Strategic Health Authority, she served as Deputy CEO and COO of NHS England, earning recognition as a top NHS influencer. Post-NHS retirement, she advises UK and international companies offering health system services, championing the independent sector's diverse expertise, including care provision, data and analytics, and technology and innovation support. Dame Barbara will be bringing her unique blend of expertise to discussions around the financial and decision-making side of innovation within the NHS.•	Simon Harris from Kheiron, a seasoned professional leading transformative NHS projects and AI initiatives. Simon will be sharing his passion for enhancing patient care through technology and how Kheiron is using AI to help transform breast cancer diagnostics.•	Ollie Croft, FemTech Mentor and Business Development Engineer. Ollie will be bringing his proficiency in transforming ideas from early-stage startups to multinational corporations into value-added solutions to the table.•	Nelli Morgulchik, Venture Development Associate at Pioneer Group. As a Venture Development Associate, Nelli spearheads the Pioneer Group Accelerator Programme. She will be sharing her insights from guiding budding entrepreneurs and structuring businesses from scratch within the FemTech space.•	Zoe Wright, the Founder of the Real Birth Company and Registered Midwife. Passionate about antenatal education, Zoe's work spans various settings, from Midwifery Led to Obstetric Units, and includes training in Hypnobirthing and Birth Trauma Resolution Therapy. At this event, she will be discussing her award-winning antenatal education programme and the highs and lows of working within FemTech.•	Anna King, Commercial Director at the Health Innovation Network (HIN) has concentrated on fostering NHS-industry relationships and founded Digital Health London since joining the AHSN in 2013. To close the event, Anna will provide updates on the UK Accelerating FemTech programme.By showcasing these speakers from various health sectors, the event will offer participants a unique opportunity to understand and explore the innovative and transformative possibilities in the realm of women's health.The event will also feature networking Q&amp;A sessions and networking opportunities throughout the day. Accelerating FemTech is divided into two programmes:•	<a href="https://healthinnovationnetwork.com/projects/accelerating-femtech/#inspire" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Inspire</a>: engaging innovators (clinicians, companies and academics) around this challenge, including events like Accelerating FemTech: East Midlands, Accelerating FemTech: Manchester and Accelerating FemTech: London.•	<a href="https://healthinnovationnetwork.com/projects/accelerating-femtech/#accelerate1" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Accelerate</a>: delivering a targeted 10-week accelerator programme for small / medium-sized companies from across the UK. <a href="https://healthinnovationhub.smapply.io/prog/2023_accelerating_femtech_programme/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Apply now</a>.Accelerating FemTech is being delivered by the Health Innovation Network and partners, including: Academic Health Science Networks, CW Innovation, Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, St George's University, and others, utilising Innovate UK funding as part of the Biomedical Catalyst in collaboration with the Medical Research Council. It builds upon the experience of running the award-winning DigitalHealth.London, and other innovator support programmes from the AHSNs.This event is designed for innovators, clinicians, academics and patient groups interested in the development of innovative technology solutions to women's health needs, please express an interest in a ticket here.
