In this workshop we will explore how to extract pigments and make inks out of natural stuff around us including food and garden waste.

Natural dyeing connects people with plants and with the rhythms of nature. It is magical and empowering to be able to extract pigments from different organic dyestuff and bind them onto fabric or paper. Very little is needed but time, love and patience. In this workshop we will explore how to extract pigments and make inks out of natural stuff around us including food and garden waste. We will cover working with metal salts and natural modifiers to switch colours and learn how to best preserve our inks. This online workshop will centre around a pre-recorded demonstration of the techniques involved, with a live introduction and Q and A section following the demo. Participants are not expected to do any hands-on making during the session but use this as a chance to gain some new knowledge and ask questions before experimenting at home. About Renata Minoldo:I am an artist and educator who uses art as a healing practice. I make objects and facilitate accessible participatory experiences as tools for self care, grounding and reflection, aiming for connection in a supportive, non judgemental safe space. I am interested in mental health and wellbeing, in generating environments where people can reach a deeper level of understanding of their feelings and emotions, allowing time for play and exploration with a focus on the process of making and collective learning.https://www.renataminoldo.com/An access budget is available to support the participation of those with access needs.
