Join us for a series of masterclasses aimed at illuminating roles within the arts & heritage sector for Black & Global majority individuals.

BCA Pathways: Arts &amp; Heritage aims to illuminate routes into and roles within the arts &amp; heritage sector.This year our theme is ‘Creating Space’. With portfolio careers becoming more of a norm and the fears around the future of the workplace increased by technological advances such as Chat GPT, we want to remind you that there is hope. Opportunities are available within the arts, culture and heritage sector, some of which you may even create for yourself.Each masterclass will give you an insight into how to start your career with tips and advice on skills and qualities needed, networks that are helpful to be a part of.P﻿lease note that masterclasses run concurrently and that you should only sign up to attend one per day.-﻿--Masterclass OverviewsMARKETING: Session 1 – Monday 25 SeptemberLed by Monique Baptiste-Brown, arts marketer &amp; strategist, researcher, and working mum. Monique’s experience spans across the arts and cultural sector including art forms and creative practice in theatre, museums &amp; heritage, film, and literature. A lover of stories whether on screen, page or stage, she is motivated by diverse narratives and audiences. She is a London representative for the Arts Marketing Association, Mentor for the Sour Lemonades and sits on the steering committee for What Next? She is currently the Head of Audiences and Communications at <a href="https://brixtonhouse.co.uk/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Brixton House</a>.CURATORIAL: Session 2 – Monday 25 SeptemberLed by Péjú Oshin, a British-Nigerian curator, writer, and lecturer born and raised in London. Her work sits at the intersection of art, style, and culture with a keen interest in liminal theory and diasporic narratives. Core to her practice is working with visual artists, brands, and people globally. Péjú has a history of supporting young and emerging artists and cultural producers through her work at Tate, Barbican, Wellcome Collection and others. She is an Associate Lecturer at Central Saint Martins having taught on courses in the Fashion and Culture &amp; Enterprise departments. She is the author of <a href="https://www.pejuoshin.com/shop/p/n0fvq97ecoqr2l3wf2a9u5vo3zgqd1" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Between Words &amp; Space (2021)</a> a collection of poetry and prose and was shortlisted for the Forbes 30 Under 30 Europe list in the Arts &amp; Culture category in 2021.STRATEGY: Session 1 – Tuesday 26 SeptemberL﻿ed by Junior Olomowewe, Senior strategist with a successful history of delivering creative campaigns within the music, sports, and advertising industries. As the Founder of <a href="https://www.instagram.com/blanguage.online/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Blanguage</a>, he champions intersectionality of Black people within creative spaces while providing cultural insights, conducting research and executing campaigns for his clients. Junior currently is working at Vaynermedia (Tik Tok) and has worked with brands like Beats By Dre, Universal Music, and the V&amp;A. Junior was recently featured on The Drum Future 50 List.&quot;FILM ARCHIVING: Session 2 – Tuesday 26 SeptemberL﻿ed by <a href="https://www.londonsscreenarchives.org.uk" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">London&#x27;s Screen Archives</a>, a unique network of organisations with a collective vision – to preserve and share London’s history on film. The network is managed by Film London and encompasses organisations that hold heritage film collections across London, including local and borough archives, museums, galleries, public sector bodies, community groups, and national charities. They work with members to digitise their films and ensure the long-term sustainability of their moving image collections, as well as offering opportunities for public engagement through screenings and events, volunteering programmes, training and education. FREELANCE: Session 1 – Wednesday 27 SeptemberL﻿ed by Greg Bunbury, a Graphic Designer, Creative Consultant, and D&amp;I consultant. His mission is to change the world by design, enabling purpose-driven businesses and organisations to connect with diverse communities, through creativity &amp; inclusion. Greg is also the founder of <a href="https://bunbury.co/blackoutdoorart" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Black Outdoor Art</a>, a project that uses outdoor advertising space as a platform for creative Black expression, and hosts the Design For The People podcast, spotlighting creatives working towards positive social change.*﻿FACILITATION: Session 2 – Wednesday 27 SeptemberL﻿ed by Dr. Ayshah Johnston, an honorary research fellow with Royal Holloway University of London, and Learning and Engagement Manager at Black Cultural Archives (BCA). Ayshah draws on her experience as a museum and community educator to reach out to schools, universities and family audiences, alongside facilitating research collaborations with UK universities. She is driven by her passion for history and for ensuring that the Black British experience is widely shared and understood, and embedded within national historical narratives. As well as being recently awarded her PhD in history, Ayshah is also a prize-winning writer, and has had her stories published in anthologies in Jamaica. She organised BCA’s first ever publishing collaboration with leading children’s publisher Scholastic, in the form of the children’s book <a href="https://blackculturalarchives.org/shop/p/the-place-for-me" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">The Place for Me: Stories about the Windrush Generation</a>, and she promotes creative writing as a way of communicating Black history in an accessible and inclusive manner.
