Writtle Schools Clothes Swap

WISPA (Writtle Infant School Parents Association) is an active, friendly parents association and registered charity (number 1152512), raising money for additional resources at Writtle Infant School. Regular fundraising events include our Christmas Fayre, Summer Fete, school discos, sponsored activities, film clubs, movie nights, cake sales and treasure hunts. We also organise the annual leavers’ party for Year 2 children moving on to Junior School.

P﻿LEASE NOTE: Tickets are now a donation. Please add £4.00 into the donation box when buying tickets. This will keep the eventbrite fees as low as possibleCost: £4 per 10 itemsSizes: Age 3-4 up to 14-15You must bring 10 items and you can take home up to 10.If you haven’t heard of or been to a swap before, here is how it works…1.	Book on to the swap via the Eventbrite link here.2.	At school drop off time (between 8:40 – 9am), drop off your 10 items you would like to swap.3.	From 2:30 – 3:20pm, come and choose your preloved, ‘new to you’ items.Got more questions? Here’s a bit more detail:Book on via the Eventbrite link – payment for the swap is taken before the day (bookings close Thursday 15th June)The clothes swap is for Children’s clothes ONLY, no adult, baby or toddler items. The age range of clothes on the day will be age 3-4 items up to age 14-15 items. You can bring 1 pair of good quality shoes per person. No winter coats please.Please ensure that the items you bring are in a good quality condition. No stains, holes, rips, fading, bobbling etc. A good rule is to bring items that you yourself would love to take away. Please bring your items in a reusable carrier bag. We will label these so that we can give them back to you when you pick your ‘new to you’ items.The swap will take place on the grass outside the Junior School (where you will drop off your items in the morning). It will be held outside (keep your fingers crossed for the weather) and we will have gazebos in case of any rain. Frequently asked questions:1.	What if I have items to donate but don’t want to swap? This is super kind of you, and we would welcome donations of good quality children’s clothes to add into our swap. Thank you!2.	What if I don’t have 10 items to swap?You must have 10 items to be able to take part. Ideally these will be clothes that your child has grown out of or perhaps doesn’t like/wear enough.3.	Do I have to take 10 items away from the swap?No. You can take up to 10.4.	What if I don’t find anything which fits/I like at the swap?Our experiences of swaps have always been very positive with a wide range of clothes in different sizes and styles. If you can’t find 10 items, perhaps think about sizing up, are there items that your child could grow into? Or, are there any items that you could pick up for friends or relatives? If you get home and realise you don’t like an item, we hope to be running future swaps so bring it back to swap again.We are taking bookings for the swap, so if we feel that leading up to the event, we do not have enough people taking part, we will take a difficult decision to cancel the event if we don’t think people will get the most out of the event.If you want to come to the swap and you’re worried about this, tell the other parents on the school run as the more people means more items at the swap!5.	Can I arrive after 2:30 to swap my items?All items must have been dropped off during school drop off time. This allows us to set up the swap and hang/fold all the items. The swap will then start at 2:30pm sharp! If you arrive after this time, you may miss out on items that you would like, so make sure you arrive promptly.6.	Where will the money from the swap go?All money raised will go to WISPA &amp; WJSPA.7.	What happens to any items left at the end of the swap?We hope to run swaps again as a fundraiser for WIPSA &amp; WJSPA so we might be able to store some items. If we can’t, we will donate the items to a local charity.If you have any further questions, please email wispacharity@gmail.com with the subject ‘Clothes Swap’.Why a clothes swap?Clothes swaps are a great way to get rid of your unwanted items as well as get some preloved/new to you items at an extremely low cost. For example, if you take home 10 items, they will have cost you just 40p each!!They are also a fantastic way to keep clothes out of landfill and in circulation, fighting the war on fast fashion and the lifestyle of wear once and throw away. Swaps are great event to chat to like-minded people and replenish your child’s wardrobe whilst being kind to the planet.10th – 18th June 2023 is also the Great Big Green Week and is the UK’s biggest ever celebration of community action to tackle climate change and protect nature. Every year, people come together to unleash a wave of support for action to protect the planet. Tens of thousands of people in every corner of the country celebrate the heartfelt, brave, everyday actions being taken to stand up for nature and fight climate change.
