Rathfriland's John Shannon's  first play, Little Hills, is touring venues in Co Down and Co Armagh to great acclaim this summer.

Little Hills, the story of Rathfriland woman Catherine Schubert O&#x27;Hare, is as local as drama can get, with both the subject and the writer from Co Down.This is the lighthearted but tender story of a Rathfriland woman who left home on a famine coffin ship in 1850 to work as a housekeeper in America, and her pioneering voyage across the Rockies during the goldrush.Little Hills brings the audience on the grand adventure with Catherine and her family, with all its highs and lows, which made her a celebrated figure in Canadian culture and folklore to this day.Starring John Shannon, Caleb Shannon, Sinead Rice McAleavey, Sean O&#x27;Baoill and Bronagh Lynch.
