Diamond Crime stays away from the traditional panel presentation, and instead, encourages more of a conversation with the audiences.This is not about authors airing their views for 45 minutes then asking those still in thrall to the words of wisdom, if they have questions to ask.All Diamond’s writers are charged with putting what we call readability at the head of their list of stuff to manage. Crime thrillers are supposed be exactly that – ‘thrillers’. Tightly written, exciting page turners, full of clever sleuthing, action carefully balanced with diamond hard dialogue, humour and wisdom. Writers want to sell books. But do they really consider the relationship with their readers? The people who have to shell out £9.99 for a paperback copy.Yes we will talk about storytelling, characters, plot, pace, rhythm, and all that stuff. But readability will lead.
