<h1>T﻿he Callout</h1>Theatre by the Lake and Paines Plough are partnering to launch Tour the Writer, a new nationwide writer development programme, and we want to connect with storytellers and creatives with an interest in writing for stage and performance.Our Open Writer’s Lab will be your first in-person opportunity within the programme, giving you the chance to meet the Theatre by the Lake team, connect with each other, and begin your development journey. This will be the first in a series of offers with Paines Plough so do not worry if you can’t attend, there will be more to come!

<h1>About You</h1>We want to connect with anyone that writes, wants to write, or has never considered writing before. We’re looking for poets, authors, musicians, and storytellers in all their forms. If you’ve got an interest in writing for stage and performance, then we want to meet you.We particularly want to hear from under-represented voices within the industry. We want to keep creating brave and bold spaces for voices we don’t often hear from to tell stories that aren’t often heard.If you think that’s you, then get in touch. You don’t need to have written before or have any prior stage experience. You just need a desire to tell a story.

<h1>The Session</h1>The session will run for a full day (approx. 6 hours). We will have guest facilitators running creative writing workshops. But we’d also love to hear from you about what you’d like to see from a new development programme.If you have any access requests to help you better participate in sessions, you’ll be able to let us know on the Eventbrite sign up page. Please note, we close sign ups one week before the event to ensure that we can meet any requests.

<h3>About Theatre by the Lake, Keswick</h3>Theatre by the Lake, described by the New Statesman as "artistically sharp and stunningly situated", opened in 1999. Born out of Century Theatre’s travelling Blue Box, it was willed into existence by passionate theatre lovers who wanted a permanent home for theatre in Keswick. Theatre by the Lake is idyllically situated a short stroll from Derwentwater amid the magnificent western fells of the Lake District, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The theatre has two stages, a 400-seat Main House and 100-seat Studio and presents an annual programme of homemade shows throughout the year, as well as hosting a variety of festivals, visiting companies and community performances, playing to over 120,000 people per year.As the only Arts Council funded producing theatre in Cumbria, our purpose is to enrich the lives of our local communities through making theatre.
