Hats Made Me

Dilettanti was founded by Sarah Bowles and Philippa Barton in 1980 to encourage the study and the enjoyment of the arts. The programme of events is made up of full and half days of visits, often combining  background lectures by expert speakers, which provide a context to the particular subject.

This major exhibition  presents a stunning array of hats from around the world and explores the multiple purposes of headwear.

Stockwood Discovery Centre

<p>This delightful exhibition looks at the reasons for wearing hats from the practical and symbolic to the aesthetic and transformative.  Exhibits range from purposeful hats for sport and leisure to exotic and whimsical creations for stage and screen.  </p>
