The conference will explore Tom’s dilemma as a way in to exploring the needs of the present and the future child

Standing Conference - Aims and Aspirations

The standing conference aspires to bring arts educators and environmental educators (including teachers and school leaders) together on an annual basis to:
•	develop creative and innovative practice; 
•	share key debates and examples of practice; 
•	explore synergies and new syntheses and enable new partnership opportunities. 

It aspires to open up a ‘cultural front’ in the struggle for quality education, sustainability and the environment.

It aims to enable understanding and fresh thinking between the arts education and environmental education sectors, thereby enabling more effective and imaginative working.

The standing conference will run in the first instance for three years from 2023.
Activity between events will be supported by articles, blogs and an online space.
While England-based, the standing conference will also draw on practice from the devolved administrations and beyond and will be profiled both nationally and internationally.

The partners
Big Brum TIE uses theatre and drama to help young people to make meaning of their lives and the world around them. Big Brum is an award-winning charity and an Arts Council NPO. We were pioneered in 1982 to educate young people through Theatre in Education (TIE) learning programmes. We deliver most of our work in learning settings located in areas of high economic and social deprivation, where children and young people are least engaged with creativity and culture. www.bigbrum.org.uk 
The National Association for Environmental Education (NAEE-UK) has been promoting environmental education in the UK for 50 years, supporting all those involved in its delivery, so that together we can understand and act on the need to live more sustainably in order to protect the future of our planet. NAEE has received a Green Apple award for its support of environmental education. https://naee.org.uk
