Join us for a  foraging workshop with  artist Angela Ford. Learn how to make your own cordage from local and invasive flora.

This 3-hour workshop will introduce you to foraging for local invasive plants such as nettle, bramble, and dandelion. I will be demonstrating the bushcraft of cordage making and showing you how to prepare your own raw materials step by step.The session will be led by Angela Ford, Kingston School of Art lecturer and technician, who will also discuss the incredible nutritional advantages of these plants for both human health and environmental biodiversity. The course will come to an close with your sampling of cordages, freshly brewed herbal teas, and dandelion coffee.This programme of workshops complements the Gallery’s current exhibition Ligaya Salazars&#x27; A World of Islands – On Palms, Storms and Coconuts a multi-disciplinary display which considers the movement of indigenous knowledge, practices, materials and people, and historical and current fabrications of tropical utopia and dystopia.Please take note: Due to the nature of outdoor activities, wear long sleeves and closed-toe shoes.A pair of rigger gloves and pruning shears for foraging.Safety glasses and masks will be provided.A﻿dult only workshop.Gallery location &amp; AccessibilityStanley Picker Gallery is a full accessible venue, situated on a small island on the Hogsmill River, behind Kingston School of Art, an approx. 10-minute walk from Kingston Town Centre.
