Join us for a  pigment making workshop with artist Angela Ford. Learn the ancient ways of making pigments to make your own paints from earth

In this hands-on workshop, adults will be introduced to the ancient craft of pigment making for paints, a primal method that ties us back to nature. You will discover how to create your own paints using only raw ingredients from the earth. You will have the opportunity to try out various earth pigments that I have collected for my research while foraging across the UK and Europe.The session will be led by Angela Ford, Kingston School of Art lecturer and technician, who will also be discussing earth in Hemp, Earth, + Politics , a Stanley Picker Gallery Project Studio exhibition (27 June - 8 July), with displayed samples that explore earth&#x27;s role in architecture, art, and chromatography, a chemical analysis of soil.This programme of workshops complements the Gallery’s current exhibition Ligaya Salazars&#x27; A World of Islands – On Palms, Storms and Coconuts a multi-disciplinary display which considers the movement of indigenous knowledge, practices, materials and people, and historical and current fabrications of tropical utopia and dystopia.
