Are you a Sussex-based author looking to meet other local authors and share your work?
West Sussex Libraries are delighted to announce they will be holding their annual Local Author Fair in Crawley Library on Saturday 19th October 2019 and are looking for authors to take part.
The fair runs as part of Talk About Reading month, a countywide initiative that encourages people from across West Sussex to come together and share their love of books and reading.
The fair provides the opportunity for local talent to book a stall, network with other authors and meet with members of the public, and is appropriate for authors of any type of book - fiction, non-fiction, children's books, poetry, plays and more.
After the success of our October 2018 fair, we are delighted to be welcoming local authors back to Crawley. This year, the fair will be bigger and better, with greater publicity, competitions for adults, activities for children and a talk on routes to publication by local teen author and writing expert Eve Ainsworth.
This event will be publicised:
- On posters in Crawley and surrounding libraries
- In our countywide eNewsletter, which reaches over 140,000 library customers, and in our reading group eNewsletter, which is sent to over 2,300 reading group members
- On our Facebook and Twitter pages, which have a combined following of approximately 2,500 people
- On our online events listing page - What's On in Libraries
- On the presentation screens in Crawley Library in the build-up to the event and on the day (and we will list individual author works on our rolling screen throughout the day)
- In our Talk About Reading campaign publicity
- In the local community (e.g. community noticeboards, local What's On pages)
All authors will also be given an electronic promotional pack with useful resources such as a poster, a Facebook cover image and graphics for their websites.
Important Information
- The fair runs from 11.00am-1.30pm. Authors will be able to set up from 10.00am.
- There is a £20 fee for each stall, payable in cash on the day.
- A free talk by author Eve Ainsworth on routes to publication will be held on the ground floor at 2pm, with all authors invited to join.
- Deadline for author registration is 9am on Tuesday 1st October.
- On completing registration, you will be contacted with a confirmation email and an FAQ.
