Beam work with Artists and communities to enhance places through the development of bespoke creative arts projects. Beam is the trading name of Public Arts – an arts organisation and charity founded in 1986, based in Wakefield and working across the Yorkshire region and beyond.

Join artist Duncan Chapman for 3 unique guided tours around the town to experience the Sounds of Dewsbury and see the town in a new light!

As part of the Dewsbury Creative Town Arts programme, artist Duncan Chapman and Manasamitra (also working with sound artist Sam Hodgson) have been making a set of 3 podcast walks that take listeners on 3 routes round the town. Each focuses on a different way of experiencing the environment. #1: Is a journey round the newly commissioned ARTWORKS in the town centre and transforms visual aspects of them into music #2: LOOKS UP at the skylines of the town centre and takes listeners on a journey from the Town Hall through the market looking up at the skylines #3: Is a memory journey that takes listeners round some of the old buildings exploring Dewsbury&#x27;s HISTORY and HERITAGE.. We will be doing 3 short (est 15 min) walks round the town centre listening to the sounds as we go. This ticket is for: #2 12:30 - 12:45 (Looking Up)(﻿Please see out other listings for #1 11:30 - 11:45 (Artworks) and #3 14:00 - 14:15 (Sounds inside))A﻿ccess - Mostly flat terrain but a bit of a hill in #1.
