The Stirling Photography Festival is an inclusive celebration of community. Our mission is to develop skills, create opportunities, and build community through events, workshops, and exhibitions. Partnering with some of photography’s newest and finest talent from across the World, our aim is to connect our community through photography. Since we were established in 2018, we are delighted to have had the support of local businesses and Stirling’s creative and cultural organisations. Partnerships with Scotland's leading centres for photography, including Street Level Photoworks and Stills, strengthen our professional network and assist us in bringing leading artists to Stirling.

Reflect 2023- Stirling Photography Festival

This is the 6th year of the Stirling Photography Festival and we are delighted to be working with leading artists and organisations to deliver an exciting programme of talks, workshops and exhibitions.

Join the University of Stirling Artist in Residence Audrey Grant for a guided walk exploring the rich and complex history of the Airthrey estate. Audrey has been looking at the campus as a subject for art and creative inspiration, through building a library of analogue photography. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about Audrey’s creative process and invited to respond themselves by taking photographs in the landscape that has inspired Audrey during the research phase of her residency. This workshop will be a wonderful opportunity to get a first look into the creative process of the residency. The resulting creative output from Audrey’s residency will be on display in the Pathfoot Building in early 2024. A little more about Audrey.Audrey Grant grew up in Grangemouth, Scotland. She is an award-winning painter whose practice includes drawing, photography and installation. Grant studied at Leith School of Art in Edinburgh and is primarily know a figurative painter. Her work is underpinned by intellectual ideas derived from, and inspired by, poetry, literature and philosophy. Grant explored the complex nature of long-durational drawing in her first major public exhibition, The Long Look: The Making of a Portrait with the National Galleries of Scotland in 2019. Following awards from the Royal Scottish Academy and Creative Scotland, Grant expanded her practice into site-specific installation engaging with real and imagined landscapes. She has shown work nationally and internationally, two portraits of Val McDermid were recently acquired by National Galleries of Scotland. We will take a short walk in Hermitage Woods, Airthrey Estate - weather permitting! Please note this event will involve uphill walking and uneven rough paths. A good level of mobility and sensible footwear will be required to join. If you have any questions or are unsure if the walk will be suitable for you please email Art.Collection@stir.ac.uk who will be more than happy to advise. Free parking will be available at the Pathfoot Building.Children under 16 years of age should be accompanied by an adult.
