THIS TALK HAS BEEN POSTPONED TO OCTOBER A panel discussion to explore diversity in the performing arts, obstacles to working in these industries and hopes for what the future might look like in terms of diversity and representation. O﻿ur panellists: Tony NwachukwuTony Nwachukwu is a renowned Music producer, consultant and educator. He specialises in connecting the worlds of music production and learning by creating innovative opportunities with music-focused creative professionals and industry. To many he is also known as producer of Attica Blues and project monikers NEPA Allstar and The Wach whose diverse production and remix credits include Maya Jane Coles, SBTRKT, The Cinematic Orchestra, Jazzanova, Duran Duran and U.N.K.L.E. His lecturing, consulting and learning concepts have been utilised by companies and organisations including Red Bull, Ableton, Native Instruments, Apple, UEL and LSBU.ILĀ KamalagharanILĀ* is a multifaceted transgender mixed race artist, producer and creative director creating some of the most unique and acclaimed music to emerge from the UK in recent years.Already a familiar face to many in the industry as co-founder and director of the legendary London Contemporary Voices choir, working with over 20 Grammy winning artists including Alt-J, Imogen Heap and U2 as well as two BBC Proms, the Harry Potter Play soundtrack and several iconic fashion shows for designers such as Burberry and Tommy Hilfiger. ILĀ is also a member of the Icelandic band Hrím with Cherif Hashizume and Õsp Eldjārn. In Feb 2022 ILĀ co-founded Trans Voices - the UK's first ever professional trans+ choir, debuting in February 2022 with a specially commissioned music documentary on Guardian Films - featuring in Roundhouse's Beyond and Between season alongside Jean Paul Gaultier’s Fashion Freak Show.A﻿manda MaxwellAmanda Maxwell independently manages London based DJ, TV and Radio host Ellie Prohan. Amanda has also set up a collective "Freelance Queens" for freelance predominantly black, asian, middle eastern and minority ethnic, LGBTQIA+, female identifying women from music and creative sectors with over 190 members it is a place for sharing of job roles, advice and amplifying one another. Alongside this Amanda sits on the Equality, Justice and Advisory Group for the BPI and is Chair to UK Music Futures the millennial board to UK Music.Bellatrix There are multifaceted artists, and then there’s Bellatrix. A spellbinding singer and instinctively expressive songwriter, a multi-instrumentalist, a versatile performer and former world beatboxing champion, Bellatrix complements artistic wholeness with an inventive, all-encompassing and hands-on creative vision that can’t help but resonate. Starting out as the first professional female beatboxer in the UK, Bellatrix - who now identifies as non-binary - has been a trailblazer in their field and is a fierce advocate for those who are under-represented in their communities.
