Game Republic is the award-winning largest industry-led professional games network for the North of England. Game Republic's network includes games developers, publishers, universities and games-related companies - and in 2023 celebrated its 20th year with Official Partners Red Kite Games, Barclays and Xsolla. Members include Team17, Revolution, Sumo Digital, Double Eleven, Boneloaf, the University of Huddersfield, GG Insurance, Rebellion North and Eaton Smith. Game Republic organises monthly networking meetings in the north of England, which in the past year have featured companies such as ID@Xbox, Yogscast Games, Sony, Unity, Valve, Devolver and Epic Games - and also runs and organises the GaMaYo free network and event that welcomes 400+ developers and 40+ game demos. Game Republic provides members with business advice, essential contacts, educational partner links and discounts on major events such as the Develop Conference in Brighton. We have some incredible speakers lined up for the business event for members only firstly at 4pm - 6pmThe event includes - Joshua Garrity, Head Game Scout at Secret Mode delivering a talk “Confidence is a skill, not a personality trait”, Colin Macdonald, UK Games Fund with a Content Fund update, Matt Handrahan, Kepler Interactive/Kowloon Nights on publisher funding available and a speaker from Creative Growth Finance, on the new £35m fund for creative industries – plus guests from ID@Xbox, PlayStation and more.After an insightful afternoon, from 6pm - 10.30pm we'll then have GaMaYo #21 - set to be the biggest yet, but with more space, to network, see, play new games from our Yorkshire and Northern developers and get some quiet time. The event will also include the announcement of the 20th Anniversary Game Republic Award winners with special guests. Just a few minutes walk from the nearest station Wakefield Kirkgate or a 20-minute walk/10-minute taxi from Wakefield Westgate if you're arriving via train.
