About this event:After the roaring success of the first ARTS FOR SOCIAL CHANGE SHOWCASE in September 2021 and again in February 2022, Collective Encounters is delighted to be programming another fascinating night of presentations exploring participatory arts projects, practice and passions.Join us for an evening of quick-fire presentations by people passionate about using the arts for social change. The showcase is a great way to grow your ideas, share and celebrate your achievements, rage about something or highlight something that needs to change. Presenters will show up to 15 slides about their theme, project, issue, community, infatuation and/or themselves. Each presentation will last no more than 5 minutes.This event is a great opportunity to connect, network, get feedback and generate new ideas. Presenters can be theatre-makers, producers, participants, funders, community groups, charities…anyone with a curiosity or passion for arts &amp; social change.There will be up to eight presentations, with opportunities to ask questions of the contributors throughout. Speakers:Richard DeDomenici -An artist of complicated European descent that strives to create the kind of uncertainty that leads to possibility. Ash Cox -Discussing an Unlimited micro-commission exploring my lived experience of chronic illness + internalised ableism to investigate ‘Am I a failure or am I being failed?’. Andrew Mckay as Filla Crack -Using drag as a platform to represent working class culture and ask "Why won't we ever see a scouse version of Hello Dolly?" Rachel Karafistan -Exploring collaborative hybrid performance ‘Ay Kash / ای کاش / If Only’ created by the Under the Starry Afghan Sky Collective, Herat Online School and Cosmino Productions. Gemma Collard-Stokes &amp; Clive Holmwood -Discussing the delivery of a creative arts study based on Neuro Dramatic Play, using drama and play to support younger people with dementia and their caregiver(s). Eloise Bonney -Presenting The Lowry’s work with Salford-based groups such as young parents, young carers, young people who have experience of being cared for and youth at risk of homelessness. Helen Turner -Motivated by her lived experience of poverty and exclusion Helen is co-founder of Act On It, a social enterprise taking a drama-based approach to improve the lives of others. Ushiku Crisafulli -Exploring ‘Unmasked’, an exploration of the language around autistic enjoyment and autistic authenticity through hip hop, comedy, visual art, soundscapes, and theatrical monologues.
